Rotary Municipal Library
Prime municipal land located on the busy Hospital Road in Bhuj was earmarked for public library. Rotary Club of Bhuj approached Bhuj Municipality with a proposal for grant.
Club’s own member and the then Councillor and Member of Executive Committee of Bhuj Municipality, Shri Bharat Manibhai Dholakia pursued the proposal. Land was granted by Bhuj Municipality during the tenure of Mayor Shri Arun Vachharajani, subject to condition of running permanent public library.
Possession of land was taken by Rotary Club of Bhuj during year 1989-90 by President Rtn Bharat Manibhai Dholakia and traditional rituals were performed to start construction during his tenure. Due to efforts of Rtn Mohan N Shah, funds were collected and major fund came from the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Chhabildas Mehta in name of his wife Smt Krishna Mehta.
Funds for Library were donated by the family of Shri Jaduram P Bhatt. Funds for the Reading Hall came from the family of Rtn Jayesh Shah in the name of Shri Khimji Jivraj Shah. Rotary Club of Bhuj is proudly anchored in this prime location and meets every Friday at 8 pm.
